What are Breast Implants and Breast Augmentation & their forms?
Breast implants and breast implants give women the opportunity to have the breasts they desire. Breast implants improve breast size and position and improve body symmetry for a perfect figure. Most women lose confidence because of this issue.
Breast implants come in a variety of shapes and profiles. Anatomical or teardrop shaped implants are great for achieving a more normal shape intended to make the lower half of the breast fuller. These special implants can create asymmetry when the implant rotates. This can create visible waves. At AIG Clinics, we prefer the most popular round and soft implants. Breast implants are smooth and round so they can be rotated without leaving an unnatural appearance.
What is the procedure for breast augmentation surgery?
Breast augmentation involves the following steps:
- Step 1 – Anesthesia: During surgery, drugs are given to keep the patient comfortable.
- Step 2 – Incision: The incision is made in an inconspicuous place so that the scar is not noticeable.
- Step 3 – Insertion and placement of breast implants: After the incision, breast implants are placed in one of the following pockets: intramuscular placement, inframammary/infraglandular placement.
- Step 4 – Close the Cut: The incision is closed with layered sutures of breast tissue, skin glue, or sutures to close the skin.
- Step 5 – View Results: The effect of breast augmentation can be seen immediately. Get more information about breast augmentation results.
During your initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss with you your reasons for wanting breast augmentation surgery and what results you expect to achieve. He will also perform a full check-up and breast examination. He will explain the surgery in detail and inform you of what you need to bring on the day. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions and discuss any concerns about the operation. A few days before the operation, a blood test will be performed. Other than that, a number of tests will take place to ensure that the surgery is safe for you, and everyone involved in the procedure.
Breast augmentation surgery is performed under a general anesthetic. It doesn’t involve an overnight stay. The operation itself takes between one hour and 90 minutes. It begins with an incision being made under the chest muscle, below the breast. Because most people feel dizzy following a general anesthetic, we recommend bringing someone with you on the day who will be happy to drive you back afterwards.
Breast augmentation is an invasive procedure in which implants are placed beneath the chest muscle or behind the breast tissue. Women undergo this procedure to have a fuller, bigger bust. Some get it for cosmetic reasons, while for others, lack of symmetry in the bust region is the reason to get breast augmentation surgery. It is also commonly known as boob job and augmentation mammoplasty.
Breast Augmentation Surgery is a quick procedure so as long as you feel well when you come round from the anesthetic you should be able to go home the same day. Although it is best to avoid heavy lifting and exercise for a couple of weeks following the surgery you can expect to be back at work in a few days.
It is common to experience localized pain and tenderness following breast augmentation surgery and you may notice some swelling. Your breasts are also likely to be sensitive to touch for a few weeks following your procedure. Scarring will take between two months to a year following surgery, depending on your body’s individual healing process.
Expect to experience soreness and swelling during the recovery period. Some patients also have visible bruising at the site of the incision. However, it subsides over time, and the discomfort, too, goes away. It is important to not take part in any heavy physical activity during the recovery period. For enhanced support and positioning, you will be required to wear a compression bandage or sports bra. You will have visible scars as well. But they will fade away gradually.
The surgeon may schedule follow-up visits to check implants and ensure the surgery hasn’t resulted in any complications.
